New Canaan Library officials announced Tuesday that the writer to be honored at this fall’s literary luncheon is none other than Anthony Doerr, who this week was named Pulitzer Prize winner for his massively popular novel “All the Light We Cannot See.”

To help promote the 2015 Books, Blues, and BBQ party to benefit the New Canaan Library, committee members are encouraging the community to post a photo of themselves wearing their favorite cowboy hat on the library’s Facebook page. “Over the years, cowboy attire has become associated with this important fundraising event,” commented Holly Parmelee, committee co-chairperson. “It is common that party-goers come decked out in cowboy hats and boots. So we thought it would be fun to encourage community members to show their support for the library and the event by posting a photo of themselves wearing their favorite cowboy hat.”
The event takes place on Friday, May 29th at 7pm under the tent at the library, rain or shine. The annual party will once again serve a barbeque menu and feature music by the band Tangled Vines. Register online at newcanaanlibrary.org or by calling (203) 594-5025.
New Canaan residents who would like credible information about mental health now have a new resource at the town library. Mental Health To-Go Kits, which can be checked out just like a library book, have been designed by Silver Hill Hospital.
